Job Summary

As an Early Childhood Educator, you will play a key role in fostering a positive and respectful environment for children, families, and colleagues. You will collaborate with other professionals to create an inclusive setting that supports the unique needs of every child. Your responsibilities include providing high-quality care and education in a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate atmosphere. Additionally, you will uphold the standards of the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE) and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with CCEYA regulations and maintain health and safety standards.
  • Plan and implement inquiry-based learning aligned with How Does Learning Happen? and highlight child learning through documentation.
  • Use authentic assessment and maintain accurate documentation of children’s progress.
  • Prepare and supervise classroom and outdoor activities.
  • Collaborate with resource consultants and other professionals to support children with diverse needs.
  • Communicate effectively with families, colleagues, and community partners.
  • Participate in team meetings, parent interviews, and prepare progress reports.
  • Support the centre’s Quality System Framework and engage in continuous professional learning.
  • Provide mentorship for post-secondary Early Childhood Education students.
  • Perform housekeeping duties as required.

 

Skills & Qualifications

  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience as an Early Childhood Educator within the Early Years sector.
  • Knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act.
  • Understanding of family-centred practice.
  • Experience working with children with diverse needs.
  • Knowledge of child development assessment tools.
  • Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office software, including Word. 
  • Proficiency in French and/or additional languages is considered an asset.

  • Ability to travel between locations within Halton Region.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

 

Employment Conditions

  • Standard first Aid certification including infant and child CPR. 
  • The successful candidate will be made an offer of employment on condition that the Regional Municipality of Halton receives a current (obtained within the past six (6) months), original and acceptable Vulnerable Sector Check by the first day of employment.
