Internship & Apprenticeship Program
We are committed to engaging young professionals and offer opportunities to recent graduates through our Intern program. Through this program, young professionals can gain the exposure, training and hands-on experience that they need to enter the workforce.
Our aim is to enable young professionals to:
- Kick-start careers and gain professional development while making a positive impact in the community.
- Meet mentors and work alongside leaders and experts in their fields.
- Discover on-the-job learning with opportunities for professional growth that will set them up for future success.
Internship Eligibility
All applicants must:
- Have graduated or will graduate with a recognized post-secondary degree or diploma, post-graduate certificate or diploma within the time frame specified on the posting.
- Be legally eligible to work in Canada.
Fields of Employment
Opportunities vary depending on the needs of each department. Halton Region offers summer student job opportunities in the following departments:
- Chief Administrative Officer’s (CAO’s) Office
- Finance Department
- Health Department
- Legislative & Planning Services Department
- Public Works Department
- Digital Information Services
- Social & Community Services Department

- If you are selected for an interview, you will receive an email suggesting dates and times. Interviews will take place in January 2024.
- The employment period begins in June and runs for 12 months.
