To be eligible to apply for a co-op student position, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Legally entitled to work in Canada as a student.
  • In possession of a Social Insurance Number (card) at time of hire.
  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary educational institution on a full-time basis and returning to school upon completion of the co-op work term(s).

 

This position will require the successful incumbent to provide proof of co-op eligibility, a transcript and tax credit form(s) from their school’s co-op department.

Job Summary

Halton Region will be conducting its annual Employment Survey to collect important data on employment and economic activities across the region.  We are looking for energetic, motivated, and well-organized individuals who are confident in speaking with members of the public and business owners to join our Employment Survey team as an Employment Surveyor.  Together, the team will actively liaise with local business communities and owners in Halton to gather business and employment related data that will inform and support on-going monitoring, planning, and economic development in Halton Region.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work individually and as part of a team to survey places of employment located in commercial, industrial, institutional and mixed-use areas throughout Halton Region
  • Liaise with local business communities and owners to collect place-of-employment data on the number of employees, business information, and employment activities
  • Accurately collect and record data into the Employment Survey database
  • Conduct interviews with business owners, including in-person site visits of business locations throughout Halton Region
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Skills & Qualifications

Essential

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with little supervision
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program for Planning or a related field, on a full-time basis and returning to school upon completion of the co-op work term(s).

Preferred

  • Experience in customer service
  • Experience in data entry and databases

Working Conditions

  • As a member of the Employment Survey team, the Planning Employment Surveyor will be tasked with surveying places of employment throughout Halton Region in-person and/or remotely.  As such, the role involves a mix of working in the field and/or in an office or work-at-home setting.

  • Travel will be required, incumbent must provide their own transportation. The incumbent will be required to provide a copy of their driver’s license by their first day of employment.
