  • In possession of a Social Insurance Number at time of hire.
  • You have graduated or will graduate with a recognized post-secondary degree or diploma, post-graduate certificate or diploma between January 2025 and June 2026.

Job Summary

As the Supply Chain Management Intern you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of contracts, generating reports and supporting various divisional initiatives such as policy projects. This position is an excellent opportunity to learn new skills while working with various internal and external stakeholders.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct contract renewals, verify price impacts and generate related reports.
  • Prepare reports and analyze data using SAP and Excel.
  • Assist in the formal and informal procurement of goods and services to ensure maximum cost effectiveness in a timely manner in accordance with the Procurement By-Law, policies and procedures.
  • Provide assistance relating to new divisional objectives, policies and procedures.
  • Draft/update procedures and develop process maps for supply chain processes.
  • Enter data in the Corporate financial information system (SAP) such as, purchase orders, goods issues and goods receipting.
  • Provide support to Halton staff through the review, creation and issuance of purchase orders from internally approved purchase requisitions.
  • Prepare and analyze reports including low value purchase orders, goods receipts/invoice receipt comparison, procurement statistics and open purchase orders.
  • Administer customs brokerage invoicing clearance.
  • Support with vendor summary billings.
  • Administer of payment certificates on behalf of various departments within the Region.
  • Liaise with different end users to complete contract updates and address issues with Accounts Payable.
  • Research new sources of products and services within the market.
  • Utilize various resources to research best practices and make recommendations relating to process improvements.
  • Provide general administrative support as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications

Essential

           

  • Undergraduate college or university degree with an emphasis on Supply Chain Management or Business Administration.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication, research, financial analysis and problem-solving skills, including attention to detail.
  • Possess superior time management skills and ability to manage workflow.
  • Exhibit a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles and procurement practices.
  • Be self-motivated and capable of working in a team environment and independently.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of SAP or other ERP systems

  • Travel will be required between Regional locations; incumbent must provide their own transportation.
