Job Summary
Reporting to the Manager, CQI Risk Management, the Quality Improvement Specialist supports the development, implementation, and evaluation of continuous quality improvement initiatives across Services for Seniors. This position works collaboratively with long-term care homes, adult day programs, assisted living programs, and corporate partners to integrate quality improvement, accreditation, and strategic initiatives into daily operations.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Serves as the divisional lead for the Dementia Care Strategy, providing strategic leadership, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of dementia care initiatives across long-term care and adult day programs.
- Leads the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of continuous quality improvement initiatives across Services for Seniors.
- Manages planning, implementation, data analysis and reports for annual Resident, Family and Client Satisfaction Surveys
- Supports divisional strategic planning processes, performance measurement, and reporting by coordinating data analysis, monitoring key performance indicators, and preparing reports to track progress against strategic priorities.
- Assists with accreditation activities and supports compliance with applicable accreditation standards, legislative requirements, and best practices.
- Conducts environmental scans, literature reviews, and best practice research to support program planning and service development.
- Act as the staff liaison to Halton Region’s Older Adult Advisory Committee, supporting collaboration and engagement to inform Regional policies, planning and services for older adults.
- Facilitate stakeholder meetings, committees and other engagement activities, including engaging with external consultants as required.
- Manage processes and content for regular stakeholder communications such as electronic newsletters and updates.
- Develops high-quality reports, briefing notes, presentations, educational materials, newsletters, and communication resources.
Skills & Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Sociology, Health Aging and Society, Health Sciences, Health Administration, Business Administration, Public Administration, Gerontology, or a related field.
- Minimum three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in health care and/or long-term care.
- Knowledge of the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, applicable Ministry requirements, CARF Accreditation standards, and other relevant regulatory frameworks.
- Knowledge of quality improvement methodologies, and program evaluation techniques.
- Strong analytical skills with experience interpreting and presenting data to support decision-making.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, stakeholder engagement, and relationship-building skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Certification or training in Quality Improvement, LEAN, Six Sigma, Project Management, or Change Management is considered an asset.
- Experience with SharePoint, Power BI, and Microsoft 365 collaboration tools is preferred.
