Job Summary
The Senior Advisor - Data & Analytics role provides advanced analytical support to corporate strategy and performance initiatives, enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization. The Senior Advisor conducts research, manages and monitors data, and analyzes data and policies aligned with corporate priorities. They develop impactful reports and communication materials for senior leadership and Regional Council, translating complex data into actionable insights.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and analyze key corporate data to support corporate strategy, program planning and initiatives. Ensure data integrity, consistency, and quality across reporting platforms.
  • Responsible for leading the annual employment / business survey, supervising the deployment of student surveyors, analyzing the survey results and reporting on findings. 
  • Responsible for coordination and consolidation of data from various sources including internal, Statistics Canada, or Local Municipalities. Conducting meaningful review and analysis of data for use across the organization in program and service planning. 
  • Work collaboratively with team members or independently to develop and maintain tools to track and monitor data, dashboards, visualizations, and performance reports to communicate findings effectively. Support the development and implementation of corporate performance measurement programming.
  • Prepare reports, briefing notes, presentations, and communication materials for senior leadership and Regional Council.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders such as Local Municipal staff in data management and to align analytics with strategic goals and performance frameworks.
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities through data analysis to inform planning and decision-making.
  • Conduct research and policy analysis related to growth, data analytics, corporate initiatives and priorities. Maintain awareness of provincial and municipal initiatives and integrate relevant data into corporate planning.
  • Develops and continually expands and enhances a broad network of contacts and resources both within and outside of the corporation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Skills & Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Economics, Data Science, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • At least five (5) years experience with data monitoring, analytics, and developing and delivering a performance measurement framework.
  • Experience in data visualization tools (presentations, dashboards, Power BI) is an asset.
  • Strong research, data analysis, and political/policy interpretation skills.
  • Provide ability to communicate complex findings clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of corporate, municipal, and provincial initiatives and priorities.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Able to work independently and handle multi-faceted conflicting priorities.
  • Exceptional judgement, problem solving, political acuity, and diplomacy skills.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
