To be eligible to apply for a summer student position, you must meet the following criteria:
- Legally entitled to work in Canada as a student.
- In possession of a Social Insurance Number (card) at time of hire.
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary educational institution on a full-time basis and returning to school in the fall of 2026.
Job Summary
This role assists with security duties, administrative tasks, and liaising with parking enforcement vendors.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Act as the liaison with the Regional Security Section and other Regional Departments to enable an effective operation.
- Perform regular monitoring of site security, resolves and or reports deficiencies as necessary.
- Actively contribute to the achievement of the goals and work effectively within a team-based environment.
- Assist the Regional Security Section in the performance of daily duties or tasks.
- Assist in providing electronic and physical access control for Regional facilities.
- Conduct security audits of Regional facilities in conjunction with members of the Regional Security Section.
- Conduct CCTV/VSS reviews in conjunction with members of the Regional Security Section.
- Liaise with parking enforcement vendors and select Regional staff for implementing parking enforcement services.
- Maintain records through Daily Occurrence Reports and Site Security Audit Forms.
- Maintain effective interpersonal relations and communications with colleagues, Regional Staff and the public.
- Maintain good public relations by providing professional and knowledgeable service to the public.
- Provide quality customer service through effective communications and a focus on continuous improvement.
- Performs other duties, as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
Essential
- Enrolled in a program related to Protection Security and Investigation, Community Justice, Police Foundations, Criminology or Law.
- Knowledge of security practices, terminology and understanding of relevant regulations.
- Strong problem solving skills and be able to multi-task.
- Effective interpersonal communication skills and be committed to working in a team-based environment with a focus on continuous improvement and quality customer service.
Preferred
- Part time security experience as a security guard or similar role.
- Military experience.
- Knowledge of the Use of Force Continuum and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training.

- Travel will be required; incumbent must provide their own transportation.
- Flexibility in working hours will be required.
- Must be able to perform all the necessary physical tasks associated with the position, and must be able to stand/walk for long periods of time when required.

- The successful candidate will be made an offer of employment on condition that the Regional Municipality of Halton receives a current (obtained within the past six (6) months), original and acceptable Criminal Records Check, including Vulnerable Sector Screening by the first day of employment.
