Job Summary

The Supervisor, Business Applications (Corporate Operations) serves as a technical leader responsible for guiding a team that supports business units through the maintenance, enhancement, and optimization of enterprise applications. This role ensures timely resolution of incidents, drives system reliability, and oversees the coordination of upgrades and vendor support. Through strong leadership and adherence to IT service management best practices, the Supervisor promotes continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and a proactive approach to technology support.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide timely guidance, coaching, feedback, and accountability for a team of systems analysts to drive cross-functional learning and development and successful project completion.
  • Define standards for excellence and support a work environment focused on achieving results; empower the team to take initiative and proactively influence the business.
  • Provide guidance and technical direction to team members on complex or escalated issues.
    Maintain effective on-call and after-hours support coverage as required.
  • Oversee monitoring, maintenance, and health of supported applications including SAP, Salesforce, Workforce Management, Infor, and various provincial, enterprise and in-house developed systems.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, documentation, and knowledge base articles.
  • Ensure all applications remain in a state of good repair, including the planning and coordination of patching, upgrades, and system refreshes.
  • Ensure system stability, security and compliance with Halton policies and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with application owners, project managers, and infrastructure teams to support integrations, releases, and changes impacting production. cross-functional projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to the planning and implementation of upgrades, migrations, and lifecycle management initiatives.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma from a recognized university or college in Computer Science, Information Technology or related discipline.
  • Minimum six (6) years of progressive IT experience in application support, IT operations, or system administration.
  • Minimum two (2) years of leadership experience managing small size teams and/or coaching junior employees.
  • Ability to analyze, understand and effectively communicate technical issues into business language for stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership and planning skills.
  • Experience coordinating and managing third-party vendors and service providers.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with IT Service Management (ITSM) tools such as Ivanti, including ticket workflows, reporting, and SLA tracking.
  • Familiarity with ITIL practices and service management frameworks.
  • Familiarity with application modernization, rationalization, and consolidation frameworks, including strategies for migrating legacy systems, optimizing portfolios, and reducing technical debt.
