Job Summary
Reporting to the Manager of Permits and Inspections, this position is responsible for providing customer service to Public Works and Permit Applicants requesting various information and issuing Permits relating to Municipal Consent and Regional Road Entrances.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage Development Services Counter and phone extension by answering/routing queries.
- Manage Permits mailbox, drawing searches, Permit Applications and general Permit and Public Works inquiries.
- Assists with communication to internal and external stakeholders
- Manage Municipal Consent and Entrance Permit application process.
- Consolidating internal review comments on Municipal Consent and Entrance Permit applications, including resolving conflicts.
- Provides exceptional customer service to permit applicants in a timely manner and ensures all required information is obtained for the permit including relevant insurance documents.
- Create and maintain professional relationships with Regional staff, Local Municipal staff, consultants, contractors, Regulatory Authorities (i.e., Conservation Halton, Niagara Escarpment Commission and Credit Valley Conservation) and the public.
- Provide back-up to Permit Technicians issuing various Permit types.
- Assist in creating, reviewing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures
- Assist with administration functions within the Department
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
- The successful candidate will possess a post-secondary degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Applied Sciences or another related field.
- One to three (1-3) years or more related experience in a municipal government setting.
- Familiarity with construction, technical engineering knowledge, relevant standards, documentation and legislation are an asset.
- Strong oral and written communication skills as well as strong problem solving and facilitation skills.
- Demonstrated experience in M365, customer relationship management solutions, and multi-media (telephone and E-mail) are required.
- Knowledge with the municipal permitting process and familiarity with software such as Infor PS or Hansen is also considered an asset.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
