Job Summary
Reporting to the Supervisor of Hydraulic Analysis, the Project Manager I is responsible for operating and maintaining the Region’s water or wastewater models (InfoWater Pro & InfoWorks ICM) to provide introductory hydraulic analysis expertise for the planning, design, and operation of the Region’s linear infrastructure and pumping stations within the water distribution or wastewater collection systems in Halton.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate the Region’s water and wastewater models.
- Under supervision, apply engineering judgement to analyze and evaluate the technical performance of the water distribution or wastewater collection system.
- Maintain the Region’s water or wastewater models to ensure the accuracy of system infrastructure network by identifying and addressing any information gaps and issues under supervision.
- Provide data analyses and support for calibrating the Region’s water or wastewater models, as well as perform key data QA/QC and scrubbing under supervision.
- Provide timely input into the Region’s water or wastewater hydraulic modeling manuals and update the relevant processes, procedures and documentation on a regular basis for management approval.
- Review development applications, assess the system capacity and provide a timely response for internal and external requests for senior staff’s review.
- Provide modeling and technical analysis regarding water and wastewater hydraulic analysis to support the capital works and operational improvement and optimization as directed by the supervisor.
- Project Management with internal stakeholders and external consultants for small initiatives or projects in Hydraulic Analysis group.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
- The successful candidate must possess a degree or diploma in Environmental Studies/Sciences or Civil/Environmental Engineering and a minimum of one (1) years of related experience in municipal water and wastewater hydraulic modeling.
- A professional designation track towards the Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) is preferred.
- Hands on experience with InfoWater Suite (including Pro version) and InfoWorks ICM (version 2021.1 and later) modeling software is required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills along with good communication, presentation and technical writing skills.
- Hands on experience with Microsoft Suite features applications, particularly advanced features and functions in EXCEL, is required.
- Past skills and experience in database, analytical and GIS software is desired (i.e. SCADA by SQL QUERY and TREND, ArcGIS or ArcGIS Pro).
- Strong academic and practical knowledge of civil and environmental engineering, water or wastewater system operations, system performance, and monitoring technologies is desirable.
- Ability to use built-in scripting programs (i.e. Python, SQL) is a strong asset.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
