Job Summary
Looking for a high-performing individual who has project management experience, is detail oriented, and is looking for an opportunity to thrive. Reporting to the Supervisor Asset Condition and Planning, the Project Manager will be responsible for managing condition assessments, inspection and rehabilitation programs for water and wastewater system assets. This position will also aid in the development of methodologies, strategies and metrics that enable alignment of asset management initiatives, project performance and risk management processes.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage various projects relating to the condition assessment of water and wastewater outlying facilities such as booster stations, reservoirs and wastewater pump stations.
- Manage Regional Manhole and Forcemain Inspections and Watermain Leak Detection Program.
- Manage the Regional CCTV Program of sanitary sewers and laterals.
- Manage and deliver small scale maintenance projects for water and wastewater outlying facilities such as booster stations, reservoirs and storm & wastewater pump stations.
- Execution of all project phases; initiation, planning, and execution of projects while working within restraints like budgets and schedules and ensuring compliance with Halton Region’s standards.
- Ensure compliance with codes, safety regulations, and quality standards
- Oversee the procurement of materials and equipment.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and address any issues that arise.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including change orders, daily logs and other pertinent documentation.
- Cultivate and maintain effective relationships with various internal stakeholders such as Water & Wastewater Operations, System Design & Performance, Engineering and Construction, Asset Management, Purchasing and the Finance Department.
- Provide timely responses to inquiries regarding the condition of assets and remaining life of those assets.
- Assists in the development of procedures and policies as required and contributes to implementing continuous improvement processes.
- Attend meetings, conferences, and training sessions on an as needed basis to maintain and increase current knowledge of the latest technology and asset inspection systems.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field, and will have a minimum of two (2) years in a municipal water and wastewater environment.
- Strong knowledge of water & wastewater assets.
- Strong project management, strategic planning, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication and negotiation skills to effectively interface with various stakeholders, including councilors, regional staff, consultants, contractors, and the general public.
- Effective time management and resource management skills are also necessary to ensure the timely completion of assignments and the successful delivery of projects.
- Experience with GIS, SAP, and Microsoft 365

- Travel will be required; incumbent must provide their own transportation. The incumbent will be required to provide a copy of their driver’s license by their first day of employment.
