Job Summary
Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, Asset Management, the Project Manager II within the Public Works’ Asset Management section will be responsible for supporting asset management initiatives, assisting capital planning and forecasting activities, and satisfying all ongoing internal as well as external regulatory reporting compliance requirements across the Region’s Public Works Department.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Support the coordination of strategic and tactical asset management initiatives for the Region’s Public Works Department.
- Advance the implementation, configuration and successful operationalization of a Decision Support Software System for the Region’s Public Works infrastructure assets.
- Develop data-driven enhancements to support capital programming tools and processes, including the Region’s Risk and Criticality Framework, and Project Cost Estimation Model.
- Facilitate Asset Management Plans and annual updates that will support internal reporting, capital programming and ongoing compliance requirements with Ontario Regulation 588/17: Asset Management Planning for Municipal Infrastructure.
- Support the annual updating of the long-term lifecycle state of good repair capital forecasting for the 10-year Capital Budget.
- Liaise with Program Areas, Finance, Project Delivery Teams and external consultants, as required, to support the successful delivery of asset management initiatives.
- Prepare memoranda, staff reports, presentations, briefing materials and project management documentation.
- Coordinate reporting requirements through data analysis and stakeholder engagement to ensure consistent, accurate and aligned internal and external Public Works reporting efforts.
- Champion asset management principles and continuous improvement initiatives across the Region’s Public Works Department.
Skills & Qualifications
Essential
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Engineering, Applied Science, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of five (5) years directly related experience in municipal Capital Programming and/or Asset Management.
- Good working knowledge of asset management principles and civil infrastructure including water and wastewater systems, as well as solid waste and transportation.
- Knowledge of Ontario Regulation 588/17: Asset Management Planning for Municipal Infrastructure.
- Advanced skills in MS Excel, or similar data analysis application.
Preferred
- Possess an Asset Management Certificate or Project Management Professional (PMP) designation or equivalent Professional Engineering designation (P. Eng.) and registration with the Professional Engineers of Ontario or Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) or Chartered Professional Accountant, (CPA) is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to employ critical thinking towards developing innovative solutions will be considered an asset.
- Experience supporting Asset Management related initiatives within a municipal environment. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Possess a good understanding of Municipal Public Works infrastructure including water and wastewater systems, solid waste management and transportation.
