Job Summary
Reporting to the Manager of Transportation and Mobility Planning, the Project Manager II is responsible for the Project Management of Region-wide multi-modal transportation studies to support growth in the Region. Key undertakings that the Project Manager II will lead include Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Studies, feasibility studies, as well as other transportation-related studies to support a multi-modal Regional transportation network.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Undertake Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) or similar studies for Regional transportation infrastructure, applying a multi-modal and environmentally responsible lense.
- Conduct and/or review area specific technical transportation network studies, feasibility studies or other transportation-related studies.
- Provide transportation-related input and technical support on Regional projects, as well as projects undertaken by others, such as the Local Municipalities, Metrolinx, Ministry of Transportation to support a seamless and connected multi-modal transportation network across the Region.
- Cultivate strong relationships with staff of Halton Region through developed and demonstrated professionalism, awareness, political acuity and responsive communications.
- Assist with the development of multi-modal transportation and mobility procedures/policies, preparation of staff reports and recommendations to Regional Council on matters dealing with transportation and mobility planning.
- Participate on technical studies and committees and before municipal tribunals related to the municipal transportation infrastructure.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Engineering and/or Environmental Studies/Sciences, along with Certification in Ontario as a Professional Engineers Ontario (P.Eng.) or a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.).
- Minimum five (5) years experience planning municipal multi-modal transportation infrastructure.
- Demonstrated understanding of the principles and practices of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) process.
- Experience reviewing/evaluating transportation related impacts/analysis at the network and intersection level.
- Experience in applying multi-modal transportation/mobility industry best practices, standards and guidelines (for example, TAC and OTM).
- Strong project management, strategic planning, organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Travel demand forecasting, intersection traffic analysis, preliminary design an asset.
- Computer software including Synchro, EMME/GTAv4, ARC GIS an asset.
- Project Management Certification (PMP) preferred but not required.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
