Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Asset Management,  the Senior Project Manager within the Public Works’ Asset Management section will be responsible for forecasting, enhancing asset data analytics, and facilitating optimal asset decision making to assist capital programming and external and internal reporting requirements. 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the coordination of strategic and tactical asset management projects  for the Region’s Public Works Department.  
  • Lead the implementation and operationalization of a Decision Support Software System for the Region’s Public Works infrastructure assets. 
  • Coordinate enhancing the Public Works capital programming asset risk criticality framework 
  • Lead updating Asset Management Plans and satisfy all ongoing compliance requirements for  O. Reg. 588/17: Asset Management Planning for Municipal Infrastructure.
  • Lead the annual updating of the long-term life cycle state of good repair capital forecasting for the 10 year Capital Budget. 
  • Support the annual updates to the Public Works asset risk registry and the 10 year Capital Budget as required.  
  • Supervises Project Managers within the Asset Management Team and Collaborates with program area  teams. 
  • Prepares and delivers internal memo’s, and presentations to key internal stakeholders and management as required. 
  • Prepares reports and memo’s to Regional Council as required.
  • Motivate and provides mentorship, coaching to staff, supporting professional development goals. 
  • Represents the Asset Management Group on departmental or corporate committees as required.

Skills & Qualifications

Essential

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Engineering, Applied Science, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • 5 to 10 years experience in either asset management, capital budgeting,  and or design, and construction of water and wastewater  and transportation infrastructure.
  • Good working knowledge of asset management principles and civil infrastructure including water and wastewater systems, as well as solid waste and transportation.
  • Knowledge of O. Reg. 588/17: Asset Management Planning for Municipal Infrastructure.

 

Preferred

  • Possess an Asset Management Certificate or Project Management Professional (PMP) designation or equivalent
  • Professional Engineering designation (P. Eng.) and registration with the Professional Engineers of Ontario or Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) or Chartered Professional Accountant, (CPA) is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to employ critical thinking towards developing innovative solutions will be considered an asset.
  • Experience leading Asset management related projects within a municipal environment. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
