To be eligible to apply for a summer student position, you must meet the following criteria:
- Legally entitled to work in Canada as a student.
- In possession of a Social Insurance Number (card) at time of hire.
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary educational institution on a full-time basis and returning to school in the fall of 2026.
Job Summary
Under the supervision of a Transportation Planning Project Manager, the successful candidate will provide support to the team on active projects, which may include creating/editing presentations, research assignments, traffic and costing analysis, graphics support and other related tasks. The successful candidate will also be assigned a series of Best Practice Scans which will be undertaken independently through internet research. This will be summarized in a final report and presented to the Transportation Planning team at the end of the work term.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Undertake Best Practice internet research scans for a variety of transportation planning related matters.
- Develop a summary report and present findings to the Transportation Planning team.
- Assist with the delivery of transportation-related Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Studies and Feasibility Studies.
- Coordinate and provide general support to senior staff regarding transportation planning matters (i.e. data management, information research, filing, creating graphics and PowerPoint presentations).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
Essential
- Education in the field of Transportation/Civil Engineering or Transportation Technology.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Computer skills (MS office, including Excel and PowerPoint).
- Excellent organizational skills.
Preferred
- Knowledge of Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process.
- Knowledge of traffic analysis principles.
- Knowledge of traffic demand modeling principles.
- Knowledge of road design principles.

- Work from Home and In-office environment (3 days per week) with potential for periodic site visits. Travel may be required, and incumbent must provide their own transportation.
