  • Legally entitled to work in Canada as a student.
  • In possession of a Social Insurance Number (card) at time of hire.
  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary educational institution on a full-time basis and returning to school in the fall of 2025.

Job Summary

This role assists with the gathering and maintenance of environmental assessment data to help manage and protect Halton Region’s natural environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Analyze and determine relevant data from environmental reports (Environmental Site Assessments, Environmental Impact Assessment, Sub-watershed Impact Assessment, etc.) for inclusion in the Environmental/Contaminated Sites data base.
  • Assist in updating the environmental data base and data management practices. 
  • Digitize and include legacy data sources as needed.
  • Based on the candidate’s interest and initiative, they can be involved in the process of reviewing new development applications and learn about the regulatory environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications

Essential

  • Have a keen interest in Hydrology, Hydrogeology, and applied environmental geosciences.
  • Applicants must be enrolled in an Environmental Science, Engineering, Geography, Geology or related program from a recognized university or college with specific course work in hydrology, hydrogeology, and water quality.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and computer skills. 
  • Experience using ArcGIS, MS Excel, and MS Access.
  • Applicants must be able to work independently with little supervision.

 

Preferred

  • Experience in contaminant hydrogeology and data management.
