Job Summary

The Maintain, Repair and Overhaul Material (MRO) coordinator ensures that Treatment Plant Maintenance has the necessary materials to support maintenance, reliability and project activities in a timely and cost-effective manner. The MRO Coordinator optimizes and executes all material management processes is support of the work order lifecycle stages that rely on accurate, on time provision of material, while also ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise and advanced working knowledge of SAP MM module to enable accuracy of transactions that will enable effective and efficient recording and traceability of all material, special tools, resources and required material master data.
  • Develop, Implement and sustain Material Kitting program to ensure >80% of material consumed for planned work is advanced kitted in a “material ready” condition for trade staff each week.
  • Provide team leadership towards excellence in Industrial Maintenance Material Management and coach team towards best in class Material management systems, business processes, standards and training.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory and direct purchase records and conduct regular inventory audits to identify discrepancies and prevent shortages.
  • Ship and receive material centrally and throughout regional locations as required.
  • Lead and keep track of material warranties and returns in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ensure that all materials used in maintenance activities at water and wastewater treatment plants are safe and compliant with relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory standards and requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for all materials, including Material Safety Data Sheets and hazardous material handling procedures.
  • Lead the analysis of maintenance plans, forecasted material demand, and inventory levels to determine appropriate materials and quantities to order and make available for work.
  • Make informed decisions on material purchasing and supplier selection based on data-driven analysis and evaluation.
  • Lead in the Identification and recommend cost-saving opportunities and process improvements to optimize material management and reduce waste and costs.
  • Regularly review and update the inventory obsolescence risk management plan to reflect changes in material availability, demand, or performance.
  •  Plan, schedule and execute regular audits, assessments and KPI reporting to verify compliance with material management, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards and requirements.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to optimize material management processes and reduce waste and costs.

Skills & Qualifications

Essential

  • Industrial Trades certificate of qualification COQ in an industrial trade such as electrical, mechanical, instrumentational maintenance or storekeepers and parts personal or possession of a college or university degree in a related field of study such as business, logistics, supply chain management or engineering.
  • Minimum of five (5) years relevant Industrial or process sector experience.
  • Detailed knowledge of inventory management principles and the ability to track and maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Understanding of supply chain management principles and the ability to optimize material management processes and reduce waste and costs.
  • Expertise in supporting trades, including mechanical and industrial maintenance, supporting maintenance and repair activities.
  • Strong communication skills including the ability to communicate with suppliers, internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve issues and concerns related to material management.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to maintain accurate and up to date documentation and records.

 

Preferred

  • Certification and designations in SAP Material Management (MM Module) and other globally recognized standards.
