Job Summary

The Support Coordinator, Plant Maintenance ensures maintenance readiness throughout all capital project stages by integrating Maintenance Management and Reliability practices into project delivery. The role also addresses gaps in existing infrastructure to ensure both new and legacy equipment meet consistent maintenance standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

New Maintainable Infrastructure 

  • Ensure maintenance readiness plans are defined early and embedded in project documentation, including RFPs and design deliverables. 
  • Validate that lifecycle requirements, such as master data, inventory, training, and system integration are specified in formats compatible with maintenance systems (e.g., SAP). 
  • Confirm design documentation supports asset hierarchy development, change management, and future maintenance planning. 
  • Champion design considerations that address ergonomic access, maintainability, serviceability, availability, and reliability, and be capable of identifying and recommending opportunities to apply RAMS analysis. 
  • Support equipment selection and procurement to align with existing infrastructure and minimize lifecycle risk and cost.
  • Coordinate tagging, data readiness, and training during construction and commissioning to enable effective maintenance execution. 
  • Monitor warranty execution and ensure all maintenance deliverables are finalized, traceable, and integrated into SAP. 
  • Provide input to commissioning plans. 

 

Existing Maintainable Infrastructure 

  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to assess legacy assets and prepare them for inclusion in maintenance readiness planning. 
  • Identify gaps in master data, documentation, and system integration; coordinate updates to support risk, performance, and cost management. 
  • Support development of asset hierarchies, criticality scoring, and care plans for older equipment. 
  • Facilitate change management to align legacy infrastructure with proactive maintenance strategies and the GFMAM Maintenance Framework. 

Duties and Responsibilities(Contd)

Cross-Functional Coordination & Reporting 

  • Work to ensure maintenance staff are engaged in Capital project meetings, and meeting deliverables are aligned with attendants required from plant maintenance. 
  • Act as a liaison between Capital project teams and maintenance staff to ensure clear communication and continuity of expectations. 
  • Provide quarterly summary reports to the Maintenance Manager highlighting progress, gaps, and opportunities for innovation. 

Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree and certification in a relevant field. 
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience coordinating maintenance deliverables from capital projects in municipal or private sector environments.
  • Skilled facilitator and change manager, capable of implementing work practices within a unionized setting
  • Strong presentation and communication skills are essential to promote long-term adoption of best practices.
  • Experience in project management and a working knowledge of applicable industrial CSA standards.
  • Background in reliability engineering, RFP development, and cross-functional collaboration with engineering, operations, and Maintenance functions is essential.
  • Certifications such as PMP, MMP, CAMP, or RCM training are considered assets.

  • The successful candidate will be made an offer of employment on condition that the Regional Municipality of Halton receives a current, original and acceptable Criminal Records Check (obtained within the past six (6) months).
  • Travel will be required; incumbent must provide their own transportation.
