Job Summary
Reporting to the Professional Practice Advisor, the Public Health Nurse (PHN) plays a key role in promoting and protecting the community's health through effective health communication, evidence-informed practice, and collaboration. This position will plan and lead the redesign of the immunization webpages on halton.ca, working collaboratively with internal stakeholders. The PHN will also participate in initiatives focused on the development, review, and dissemination of public health information through a variety of communication mediums including, fact sheets, newsletters, and social media.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Work with Corporate Communications to redesign the immunization webpages on halton.ca, including but not limited to development and implementation of a workplan, and project evaluation.
- Design, develop, review and update various communications (including but not limited to fact sheets, newsletter, and other digital and print materials) targeted to the public and health care providers.
- Contribute to the planning and creation, of public health campaigns, including social media content, to support priority initiatives, and emerging health issues.
- Translate complex public health and clinical information into clear, accurate, and accessible health messaging using health literacy best practices.
- Collaborate with program areas and communications teams to ensure messaging is accurate, timely, and aligned with organizational priorities and branding standards.
- Provide support to Quality Assurance initiatives for the division, as required.
Skills & Qualifications
- Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario; Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a recognized institution
- Three (3) to Five (5) years of public health nursing experience, including demonstrated experience in health communication, health promotion, or knowledge translation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to translate complex clinical information into clear, accessible language.
- Skilled in collaboration, facilitation, and project management; able to manage multiple priorities and timelines.
- Apply principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, and cultural safety in all aspects of work.
- Strong knowledge of public health principles, regulatory standards, and evidence-informed practice.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with electronic documentation systems.

Working Conditions
- Flexibility to work outside of core business hours including evenings, weekends and holidays, is required.
- Travel across Halton Region is required, and the incumbent must provide their own transportation.
- The incumbent must be able to provide a current complete record of immunization according to the Ontario provincial immunization schedule.

- Valid Ontario G class driver’s license.
- The successful candidate will be made an offer of employment on condition that the Regional Municipality of Halton receives a current (obtained within the past six (6) months), original and acceptable Vulnerable Sector Check by the first day of employment.
