Job Summary
Test shoppers will conduct youth access checks to monitor the compliance of tobacco and vapour product retailers with the Smoke-Free Ontario Act (SFOA), 2017.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Work alongside a Public Health Inspector to visit tobacco and vapour product retailers to monitor the retailer’s compliance with the SFOA, 2017 by attempting to purchase tobacco and vapour products.
- Record details of activities during youth access checks through proper documentation.
- Appear in Provincial Offences Court as a witness as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
- The successful incumbent must be between the ages of fifteen to seventeen (15-17) and possess excellent verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills are required to be able to observe and recall details of activities.
- It is recommended that a recent photograph accompany a resume in order to be considered (applicants must successfully meet age testing requirements).
Working / Employment Conditions
- Parental consent is required.
- Test shoppers may be required to attempt entry at retailers that prohibit the entry of minors (e.g. specialty vape stores), when product sampling is not occurring.
- The incumbent will be required to work weekday/evening and weekend hours.
- The incumbent will be required to arrange their own transportation to and from a Halton Region facility.
