Job Summary

Reporting to the CQI Risk Manager, the Decision Support Specialist supports Services for Seniors (SFS) divisional CQI program in alignment with the Fixing the Long-Term Care Act. They will support and integrate quality improvement initiatives and their accompanying strategies into operations. They will provide research and data support to SFS strategic projects and departmental initiatives to enable evidence-informed decision making.

Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Leads development and implementation of divisional data strategy including program dashboard creation, reporting of client satisfaction survey data and dementia care program evaluation. Designs and develops program data collection tools, resources and frameworks.
  • Responsible for overall compliance of the quality improvement program under the Fixing Long-Term Care Act (FLTCA) regulations. This includes development and submission of annual Quality Improvement Plans, annual Quality Initiatives report, annual program evaluations, and supporting resident and family satisfaction surveys for each Long-Term Care home (LTC).
  • Leads multi-disciplinary teams through quality improvement projects to support organizational priorities, enhance performance and achieve measurable outcomes.
  • Leads the development of divisional reports on quality indicators to monitor the efficacy and safety of resident and client outcomes, and resources required to implement programs. Provides trending and analysis against, regional, provincial and sector results and recommends opportunities for improvement.
  • Responsible for prioritizing annual projects and communicating data-driven insights to senior leadership through reports and presentations that inform strategic decision-making.
  • Develops a wide range of documents to support divisional projects. This includes presentations, environmental scans, briefing notes, business cases, analyzing data and developing planning documents.
  • Help develop resources and education (webinars/workshops) as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications

Essential

  • A post-secondary degree in Aging & Society, Gerontology, Health Sciences or related fields.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience working in a municipal or provincial public sector context with acceptable specialization in health care, seniors’ care, gerontology, or relevant social science.

Preferred

  • Broad knowledge of applicable legislation including the Fixing Long Term Care Act.
  • Strong analytical, research, communication, planning and evaluation, performance management, quality improvement and information management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills. Demonstrated tact and ability to effectively build relationships.
  • Exceptional computer skills including ability to use computer software programs including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) and Power BI at an advanced level. Experience with Point Click Care software is an asset.
  • LEAN Six Sigma Green Belt certification
  • Experience with variety of data sources including CIHI LTCF interRAI indicators and Statistics Canda Census Data.
  • Experience and/or interest in healthcare and/or seniors’ care.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

  • Travel between long-term care homes and community programs is required. Incumbent must provide their own transportation.
