- You have graduated or will graduate with a recognized post-secondary degree or diploma, post-graduate certificate or diploma between January 2025 and June 2026.
Job Summary
- Reporting to the Change Management Advisor, the Business Transformation Intern will support business improvement and continued transformation of human services in the Social and Community Services Department to enhance service delivery for residents.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Contribute to business improvement initiatives through active involvement in project planning and execution.
- Manage small-scale projects or project components including coordinating tasks, tracking timelines and providing progress updates.
- Participate and support in business process reviews (e.g. current and future state mapping) to identify opportunities for improvement and support the implementation of process changes.
- Apply problem solving methods (e.g. Lean concepts and tools) to analyze processes, identify issues, and propose solutions.
- Collect and organize data from various sources, maintain data quality, and create simple visualizations to highlight trends.
- Prepare and synthesize materials for meetings such as agendas, templates, action notes, and summaries.
- Develop presentations, briefing notes and project documents for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support with innovation activities, such as idea generation and developing potential solutions.
- Contribute to a culture of positive change and continuous improvement by engaging in learning and participating in improvement activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
Essential
- Undergraduate degree in Business or Public Administration, Planning or Social Sciences or a related field.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear written documentation.
- Experience and/or demonstrated interest in business transformation, continuous improvement, project management, process mapping, and/or change management (through coursework, projects, or work experience).
- Basic knowledge of project management and change management tools and techniques.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Familiarity with Visio or other process mapping tools is an asset.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment, with a proactive, learning-oriented mindset.
- Interest in public sector or community service environments and improving resident/client experiences.
Preferred
- Experience using basic data analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Excel advanced functions).
- Experience creating visual diagrams, workflow maps, or customer journey maps.
Working/Employment Conditions
- Travel may be required; incumbent must provide their own transportation.
