To be eligible to apply for an intern position, you must meet the following criteria:
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
- In possession of a Social Insurance Number at time of hire.
- You have graduated or will graduate with a recognized post-secondary degree or diploma, post-graduate certificate or diploma between January 2024 and June 2025.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for providing a broad range of research and analytical support to the program.
- Working with program staff, Halton Newcomer Strategy (HNS) Steering Committee and Action Group members, and subject matter experts to support the implementation of the Halton Newcomer Strategy (HNS) Strategic Plan actions.
- Support the procurement of local, newcomer specific data; assisting with research and survey design and dissemination, qualitative and quantitative data analysis, and working with HNS partners to identify opportunities to enhance data sharing.
- Responsible for contributing to reports, building a program data development schedule, and presenting updates to members, in an effort to ensure the work of the collaborative remains evidence-based.
Skills & Qualifications
Essential
- Honours Bachelor Degree in Social Science, Public Policy, Business Management, Human Services or Community Development.
- Must be capable of conducting research including literature reviews, community engagement/consultation, jurisdictional scans and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data to support strategic planning.
- Research in Children's Services Employment and Social Services, specific to the work of the Halton Newcomer Strategy (HNS).
Preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is required and experience analyzing and entering data with statistical software packages such as IBM SPSS.
- This position is supporting the work of the Halton Newcomer Strategy (HNS) and those with newcomer lived experience will be prioritized. If you would like to provide a reflection upon how your lived experience as a newcomer would contribute to this role and Halton Region, please submit that information in your cover letter.

- Travel will be required, and the incumbent is expected to provide their own transportation.
