Job Summary
Reporting to the Supervisor, Revenue, this role will provide support in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of water and wastewater billing data. This role will be responsible for the development of policy, procedures, training materials, analysis, reports, etc. working collaboratively with the project team.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Monitors and enforces all aspects of Water Customer Billing Agreements with third party billing companies.
- Recommends and implements policy changes and/or develops new policies.
- Represents the Finance department on various project teams and initiatives.
- Ensures completeness and accuracy of the water billing revenues and water meter data.
- Develops sophisticated reporting to monitor water billing database for accuracy and completeness.
- Produces various reports and analysis of large data sets using advanced Excel Power Query functions.
- Provides timely and efficient resolutions to escalated customer water billing disputes.
- Utilizes effective problem solving and conflict resolution to negotiate payments of overdue accounts.
- Collaborates and provides direction to Meter Maintenance staff and third-party water billing companies to resolve meter reading and billing issues.
- Supports Senior Clerks and third-party billing companies in escalated billing disputes to resolve customer billing concerns.
- Prepares government reports and remittances.
- Supports preparation of the Financial Information Return and Annual Financial Statements.
- Supports the implementation of Advanced Metering Infrastructure to ensure revenue protection and safeguarding of Regional assets.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
Essential:
- Degree or diploma in Accounting/Business.
- Minimum of five (5) years in a similar role with a strong analytical background.
- Strong customer service and dispute resolution skills, advanced data analysis skills, and excellent verbal and written skills.
- Strong problem solving and creative thinking skills.
Preferred:
- Working towards a professional accounting designation.
- Experience working for hydro and water utilities companies.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
