Job Summary

Reporting to the Supervisor, Revenue, the Senior Clerk - Water  you would be responsible for managing water customer billing disputes and ensuring timely payments of overdue accounts. The position plays a vital role in maintaining smooth operations and resolving issues related to water billing and collections.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides timely and efficient resolution to escalated water customer billing disputes. Negotiates and receives payments of overdue accounts.  
  • Supports Regional and third party billing staff by resolving customer billing concerns.
  • Performs analysis and collection activities of water arrears forwarded by third party billing companies using multiple customer information systems.
  • Monitors billing and collection aspects of the Water Customer Billing Agreement with the third party billing companies. 
  • Ensures completeness and accuracy of monthly water revenues received from third party billing companies.
  • Works with different programs and databases to produce various reports and conducts analysis of large datasets using Excel functions.
  • Monitors water billing database for accuracy and completeness of the billing, revenue and water meter data. 
  • Recommends and implements new business processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of Regional resources.
  • Generates reconciliations of water accounts and meter inventory.
  • Oversees collection and allocation of municipal tax levies received from local municipalities.

Skills & Qualifications

  • College/University Diploma in Accounting/Business.
  • Three (3) years of experience in accounting with emphasis on customer service and collection of arrears.
  • Strong dispute resolution abilities, data analysis and Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills to respond to customers’ inquiries.
  • Experience working for hydro and water utilities companies.
