To be eligible to apply for a summer student position, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Legally entitled to work in Canada as a student.
  • In possession of a Social Insurance Number (card) at time of hire.
  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary educational institution on a full-time basis and returning to school in the fall of 2026.

Job Summary

This role supports the Small Business Centre team by assisting with entrepreneurship programs and client servicing.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in the implementation of youth-focused and general entrepreneurship and cycling tourism programs. 
  • Assist the public and maintain business information, literature and other resources available to the public in the Resource area for clients.
  • Prepare content for marketing material, newsletters, social media and other outreach initiatives. 
  • Develop new website content and PowerPoint presentations for external audiences.
  • Conduct basic market research.
  • Perform data collection, entry and analysis as required. 
  • Participate in the division’s social media outreach program.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of various division seminars and events which may include business networking events, familiarization tours and tourism events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications

Essential

  • Enrolled in a University or College Business, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Economics, Planning or related program.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint). 
  • Excellent research and analysis skills, written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

 

Preferred

  • Working knowledge of social media channels, event management, web publishing and customer relationship management tools.

  • Occasional travel may be required, incumbent must provide their own transportation.
