- In possession of a Social Insurance Number (card) at time of hire.
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary educational institution on a full-time basis and returning to school in the Fall of 2026.
Job Summary
As part of the PDQI team at Halton Region Paramedic Services, the summer student will contribute to projects that enhance service delivery and community engagement. Key responsibilities include organizing and maintaining training supply inventory and assisting with equipment management through asset tagging. The student will also provide general support for PDQI projects, which may involve the development and scheduling of Paramedic Services social media content, data organization, documentation, and coordination tasks.
Duties & Responsibilities
Maintain Training Supply Inventory
- Track and monitor inventory levels for training materials and supplies
- Organize, restock and maintain items as needed to ensure readiness for training sessions
- Assist in identifying and reporting shortages and damaged items
- Create and apply asset tags to all designated training equipment
- Update and maintain accurate records of tagged assets in the inventory system
- Other duties and administrative tasks as assigned
Social Media
- Create and schedule engaging social media posts using Hootsuite.
- Maintain a content calendar to plan and coordinate posts.
- Capture and edit photos or short videos at community events.
- Write clear, engaging captions that highlight Paramedic Services programs and events.
- Monitor engagement and track basic social media analytics.
Skills & Qualifications
- Enrolled in a college Primary Care Paramedic program is an asset.
- Basic knowledge of paramedic equipment and training devices preferred.
- Possession of a valid “G” class license is required. An “F” class driver’s license is an asset.
- Organized and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Strong writing and communication skills with attention to detail.
- Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn).
- Experience using Hootsuite or other scheduling tools an asset.
- Basic knowledge of photo and video editing tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Express, or similar).
- Creative thinker with an eye for engaging visuals and storytelling.
- Comfortable attending community events and interacting with the public.
Working/ Employment Conditions
- A current (obtained within the past six (6) months), original and acceptable Criminal Record Check, by the first day of employment.
- The incumbent will be required to provide a copy of their driver’s license and a driver’s abstract by their first day of employment.
- Travel within the region may be required for event coverage (transportation support or mileage reimbursement as applicable).
- Primarily office-based with occasional attendance at community events for photography and social media coverage.
- Standard weekday hours, with some flexibility for evening or weekend events as needed.
- Work performed using a computer and mobile device; may involve extended periods of screen time.
- Collaborative team environment with guidance and mentorship from communications and paramedic services staff.
