Job Summary

Are you passionate about leading change and ready to make a difference? Halton Region is seeking an enthusiastic Project Manager to help deliver innovative solutions with an exceptional customer experience.  Customer service is our priority and we are enhancing user experience across all service delivery programs.

 

Reporting to the Manager of Product and Project Management, you’ll be part of a team that is charged with enhancing and modernizing Halton Region’s approach in delivering services to residents, business and staff, and responsible for inspiring change to help deliver on the Region’s Digital Strategy and Strategic Action Plan.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain the organization’s effectiveness and efficiency by delivering, and supporting Halton Region’s Digital Strategy and Strategic Action Plan
  • Manage the successful delivery of multiple projects; on time, on budget and in scope, as assigned
  • Bring new ideas and innovation to projects to support best practices in customer centric user experience
  • Develop detailed project management documentation such as Project Charters, Process Flow Diagrams, Use Case Diagrams, Project Management Plans (including subsidiary plans)
  • Lead multi-disciplinary project teams consisting of subject matter experts from other departments, staff from Regional partner organizations, externally contracted consultants and vendor representatives
  • Organize and conduct meetings with key stakeholders (project team, Steering Committee, technical resources, etc.) to review progress in the delivery of projects;
  • Document, report and escalate variances to plan and suggests a course of action as required, including working with the team to identify, anticipate and manage project issues and risks, escalating risk/issues that are unresolved to management
  • Responsible for procurement activities including completing the various documents (RFP, RFQ, and SOW), evaluation and award
  • Manage contracts with external vendors or consultants including execution and effective management and control throughout the project life cycle
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills & Qualifications

Essential 

  • Computer science or business administration degree or diploma from a recognized College or University, or equivalent
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience managing the delivery of projects
  • Work effectively as part of a team as well as independently
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Customer Service oriented and ability to exercise patience, tact, diplomacy and discretion
  • Strong working knowledge of scheduling and project management tools/experience including Microsoft Office Suite (Office 365)
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects within strict budget and timeline constraints
  • Proven ability to respond to frequently changing priorities

 

Preferred

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)
  • IASSC Lean Six Sigma certification, or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of ERP and CRM software/systems
  • Familiar with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process including planning for all phases from define requirements, design, build/develop, test management, Release/Production
  • Experience with purchased software and software development projects
  • Experience in municipal government
