Job Summary
Reporting to the Manager, Marketing, the Digital Media Specialist supports Halton Region’s communications and marketing objectives by leading the execution of high-quality digital and visual content across multiple platforms. Working collaboratively with the Marketing & Communications Team and program areas, this role translates complex information into engaging, accessible, and on-brand digital media products that inform residents, support campaigns, and strengthen public trust.
Operating in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, the incumbent brings strong creative and visual communication expertise, sound digital content production skills, and a high degree of attention to detail and quality assurance. The role requires effective time management, adaptability, and the ability to exercise sound judgment and professionalism, including political acuity, while working collaboratively with internal stakeholders across multiple program areas. A strong commitment to customer service, accessibility, and continuous improvement is essential.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead the execution of digital and print design projects, including advertisements, infographics, fact sheets, reports, brochures, direct mail, signage, website content, documents, and animated presentations, in accordance with Halton Region’s corporate branding standards
- Design, produce, and publish short-form video content to support communications and marketing initiatives, including filming, editing, post-production finishing, colour correction, and audio adjustments
- Collaborate with internal program areas to develop visual assets that clearly and effectively communicate key messages to residents and stakeholders
- Support digital campaigns across multiple platforms, including social media, email marketing, paid advertising, and Halton.ca
- Ensure all digital content complies with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and applicable web accessibility standards
- Apply digital best practices related to usability, accessibility, and visual hierarchy to enhance audience engagement and comprehension
- Provide timely, responsive, and professional customer service to internal clients and campaign stakeholders
- Participate in a rotational on-call schedule to support after-hours digital communications needs, including website updates, media release publishing, email campaigns, and social media posting
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, digital media, communications, marketing, or related discipline
- Minimum of three to five (3–5) years of demonstrated experience in graphic design supporting marketing or communications campaigns across digital platforms, including social media
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing small- and large-scale graphic and video campaigns
- Advanced proficiency with industry-standard design and video tools, including Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and After Effects
- Proven ability to translate content and messaging into effective visual and digital communications
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, competing priorities, and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team supporting multiple program areas
- Strong political acuity and knowledge of Halton Region’s community, programs, services, and strategic priorities are considered assets
- An equivalent combination of education, experience, and portfolio will be considered

Working/ Employment Conditions
- The position requires participation in a rotational stand-by/on-call schedule and the ability to respond to after-hours callouts, which may include updating Halton.ca, publishing media releases, sending email marketing campaigns, and posting to social media channels. Occasional travel within Halton Region is required; the incumbent must provide their own transportation.
