Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Supply Chain Operations, the successful candidate will provide support to various stakeholders in a timely, cost-effective fashion and manager in-house inventory, while providing one to one customer service, daily to both internal and external stakeholders and Regional departments. 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Issue a variety of stocked items to internal and external customers utilizing the Regional ERP system, SAP. 
  • Reconcile packing slips and receive inventory with physical stock in SAP. 
  • Maintain and update stock inventory records in SAP. 
  • Process inventory control tasks such as processing work orders, good issues, good returns and goods transfers between sites within Supply Chain Operations. 
  • Determine type and quantity of stocked inventory items to be ordered based on current and projected usage of common user requirements, seasonal requirements, project requirements, availability of stock from vendors, storage capabilities, and cost saving possibilities. 
  • Support the integrity of all inventory stock levels through the re-ordering of stock, ensuring stock is up to date and within the minimum and maximum quantities. 
  • Follow up on back orders and collaborate with stakeholders to mitigate the risks as required. 
  • Collaborating with Inventory Planners to mitigate backorders challenges. 
  • Ensure data integrity by following up with Inventory Planners to update SAP master data where applicable i.e. manufactures catalogue numbers. 
  • Organize all inventory items in an orderly and accessible manner within a warehouse environment. 
  • Operate a forklift in a yard and warehouse area, off load transport truck and other shipping vehicles. 
  • Prepare contract release orders and purchase orders in compliance with the Supply Chain Management Policies, Procedures and Region By-laws. 
  • Maintain accurate administrative documentation in accordance with sound inventory procedures. 
  • Perform ongoing inventory cycle counts and assist with annual inventory count processes. 
  • Place orders for non-inventory parts to support maintenance and repair of Region’s rolling stock. 
  • Perform duties of counter staff to provide services to internal stakeholders as required. 
  • Perform duties in both indoor and outdoor settings, often exposed to varying climate conditions including heat, cold, rain and snow. 
  • Maintain a clean housekeeping routine, ensuring compliance with legislation and the Region’s Safety Standards. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Skills & Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of warehouse inventory experience in an industrial/commercial environment. 
  • Experience with a computerized inventory management system and knowledge of MS Office and SAP.
  • Strong customer service, time management, problem solving, organizational and housekeeping skills. 
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to accommodate changing priorities, tight deadlines and frequent interruptions. 
  • Familiarity with the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations.  
  • Municipal experience is preferred.
  • Physical demands of the position include, frequent lifting, standing, bending and carrying equipment of approximately 20kg or greater.

Working/ Employment Conditions

  • Current (obtained within the past six (6) months), original and acceptable Criminal Records Check, by the first day of employment.
  • Must possess a valid forklift operator certification.
  • The incumbent may be required to drive a Regional vehicle and will be required to provide a copy of their driver’s license and a driver’s abstract, by their first day of employment.
