Job Summary
The incumbent will participate as a member of the Adult Day Program Team, responsible for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of social and recreational therapeutic programs for clients of the Adult Day Program.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, implement and evaluate one-to-one, small group and large group social, cultural, educational and therapeutic recreational activities
- Assist clients in improving or maintaining clients' physical, emotional and social capabilities and promote their maximum level of independence.
- Function as part of an effective team, supporting team members in all programs and duties
- Keep knowledge base current including best practices and current trends and transfers new knowledge into practice.
- Provide excellent customer service in a team environment, communicating effectively with clients, families and staff.
- Provide assistance with clients’ personal care needs.
- Maintain client confidentiality at all times.
- Participate in Quality Improvement Initiatives.
- Ensure safety and security for clients.
- Assist with the dietary and housekeeping.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
Essential
- Degree or diploma in Gerontology with an emphasis in Recreation.
- Two (2) years’ experience in planning and implementing recreation programs for seniors.
- Must have experience and possess a keen interest in working with the elderly, those with dementia and adults with disabilities.
Preferred
- Assessment skills and intervention strategies to facilitate success in activities.
- Computer skills (Point Click Care, Word, and Outlook).
- Safe Food Handling, GPA, Montessori Training and First Aid certification.

Working Condition
- The position has physical demands which include lifting, pushing and pulling.
- Flexibility in work schedule for occasional evening and weekend work as needed.
Employment Condition
- Current, original and acceptable Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Screen (obtained within the past six (6) months).
- Current two-step tuberculosis test (obtained within the past six (6) months) by your first day of employment.
