Job Summary
Reporting to the Production Kitchen Nutrition Services Supervisor, the Ingredient Control Assistant is responsible for storing food deliveries, completing food handling and preparation tasks and assembly and distribution of food and goods for clients of the Villages of Halton Production Kitchen.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Review all food deliveries (dry, refrigerated and frozen) for order accuracy and damage.
- Store receive food items and sets aside any items that do not meet quality specifications
- Follow production sheets to measure and prepare all indicated food items, using standardized recipes where applicable.
- Review production sheets one week in advance and organizes each workday based on the needs of the operation.
- Assemble and distributes food and goods for Meals on Wheels, Silver Creek Adult Day Program and Milton Place/Friends Landing Adult Day Program.
- Clean and sanitize storage areas, food processing area and equipment as indicated on the cleaning schedule.
- Complete stock rotation in order to maintain established par levels.
- Complete all required documentation.
- Prepare and handles food following safe food handling guidelines.
- Communicate any issues and concerns to the Production Kitchen Nutrition Services Supervisor and team.
Skills & Qualifications
Essential
- Possess a valid and current Food Hander Certificate.
- Be team oriented, possess effective communication skills and have a genuine desire to work with the elderly.
- Have an understanding of the Residents’ Bill of Rights and Compliance Standards as set out by the Ministry Long Term Care.
Preferred
- Successfully completed or are enrolled in a Food Service Worker training program at an established college or registered private career college in Ontario.
- One year of related experience in quality food preparation and knowledge of ingredient and food inventory.

- Flexibility to work outside of core business hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.
- The incumbent must be able to perform all the necessary physical tasks associated with the position including lifting approximately 50 lbs., pushing, pulling, and moving heavy materials, equipment and boxes.

- Current (obtained within the past six (6) months), original and acceptable Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Screen.
- Current two-step tuberculosis test (obtained within the past six (6) months).
