Job Summary

This role plays an important role in establishing the strategic direction of systems supporting the Region, driving innovation and establishing architecture roadmaps and blueprints. This role is responsible for evaluating, developing and recommending solutions that align with the Region's Cloud and Technology Blueprints. This role provides leadership/guidance to the business and technology solutions delivering architecture, design, and development of reusable capabilities across multiple business units and technology solution product lines. Working collaboratively with a team of project managers, data architects, senior IT leaders, and other business stakeholders, this role will build and maintain strategic technology roadmaps that are aligned to strategic goals. This role will be responsible for ensuring proposed solutions and architectures are acceptable and meet standards and requirements. This role is responsible for leading a team and managing it's performance according to the Region’s policies and guidelines.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the analysis of the current technology environment; recommend solutions for improvement including the digital workplace.
  • Lead the analysis of the technology industry and market trends to determine impacts on enterprise architecture.
  • Lead the intake process and governance for new technologies and architectures.
  • Apply information contained within IT architecture to inform business improvement activities.
  • Develop and implement technology architecture strategies and standards for multiple IT and business domains including security, infrastructure, operations, enterprise, and customer systems, ensuring compliance within each.
  • Provide collaborative leadership to the architecture team in the development of enterprise, solution, and technical architecture.
  • Develop, document, communicate and enable architecture vision and principles for standardizing systems and software.
  • Facilitate solutions to complex business problems through collaboration and combination of business transformation, technology innovation, and data assets optimization.
  • Oversee documentation and artifacts of all architecture design and analysis work.
  • Stay current with emerging trends and technologies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications

Essential

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
  • A strong background in enterprise systems and cloud-based ecosystems including AWS, Azure, and Google.
  • A minimum of 8-10 years experience in critical problem solving and advanced troubleshooting skills to drive resolution to technical and business issues.
  • Experience in at least two IT disciplines in a multi-tier environment (e.g., technical architecture, network management, application development, middleware, information analysis, operations).
  • The ability to work within multiple, diverse business processes, technologies, and processing environments at an enterprise level and have experience with Agile development methodology.
  • Excellent presentation, documentation, communication, and influencing skills as well as skills for presenting/influencing technology direction in a business context.
  • Experience in driving adoption of enterprise standards and standard methodologies including relevant knowledge. 
  • Experience with cloud governance, data governance, and AI governance. 
  • Neutral views on technology, vendors, and product choices with the ability to drive short-term actions ensuring they are consistent with long-term goals.

Preferred

  • Hands-on experience practicing at least one formal Enterprise Architecture Framework such as TOGAF, Zachman, and other leading architecture frameworks.
  • Heightened awareness, experience, or passion in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
